Parent Feedback & Involvement
By A Child's Academy
We would love to profile any successes our parents have had or to profile any businesses that families have that our other parents should know about. Please contact Jackie with this information.

We also would enjoy getting any feedback about any and all items about our school. What are we doing great? What can we improve? Your feedback and concerns is what helps keep us on top of our game. What else should be in our Monthly Giggle Newsletter? There is a feedback box in the front office if you prefer it to be anonymous or you can let Jackie know.

Thank you for being a part of your lives and allowing us to help prepare your children for the future! We take our jobs very seriously and love doing it at the same time!

Roli Polies (Infants)
By Ms June, Ms Nell, Ms Diana & Ms Heather

With the warm weather here, and summer approaching fast, we have taken to a lot of outdoor activities. The children have especially enjoyed the water play we have been experiencing. At home this is a very inexpensive and accessible toy; you only need the use of a dishpan and one of our very own natural resources - water.

So, take the plunge with your little one and watch the sensory pleasure they get from playing with water. You're sure to have a wet and wild time together!

Water isn't just for getting clean. In fact, water play encourages discovery and stimulates a child's interest in the physical world. When it comes to play, most babies don't mind getting wet. That's why water play is both enjoyable and educational - and perfect for either indoor or outdoor play.

At no other time, aside from prenatal development, does your baby grow, change, and learn more rapidly than during these early years. By providing a stimulating environment, you - as a parent - can help your baby reach his developmental potential during this critical time. Your baby learns primarily through play and the best plaything for your baby is your ability to find exciting activities and the time you have playing together.

Letting your baby or toddler play with water encourages development of the senses and opportunities for exploration, discovering new concepts, and learning new vocabulary. If you talk to your child while you play, they will begin to learn new words, too.

You may want to start with one pan of water- this is fun in itself. Add cups, spoons, and funnels for your child to play with. Another time, you can use two pans of water, one cool and the other one warm. Encourage your little one to play freely in both pans. Talk to him about the different temperatures. Talk about how the water feels in the two pans.

Attune to your child's senses by adding a scent to the water. Baking extracts are a safe way to make the water smell like peppermint, orange, and lemon. They can visualize the water by adding color using food coloring. Just a drop or two will change the color of the water and to your child; this opens a new horizon of play.

Busy Bees (Toddlers)

By Ms Monica, Ms Gail, Ms Samantha & Ms Lydia

We have a fun-filled month planned with our theme "Let's Go to the Beach." We will create a feeling of being at the beach with the many art projects we have planned such as jelly fish art, octopus, sand printing, and a mural.

In addition, we will learn many new songs, experiment with ocean sounds, and examine seashells and a starfish.

You can help expand your child's learning and experiences by bringing them to the beach and pointing out the different wild life you may find on the shore. Have them taste and smell the ocean water. And while you are there, you can build a sand castle. Just remember - please share your family pictures with the class. I know all of the children would love to see them.

Also, this month, we will celebrate our fabulous fathers with a Father's Day breakfast. Please plan on joining us for this happy occasion.

As always, parents are always welcome in our class - whether it be to read a story to the class, spend a little time on one of our buggy rides, or just to say hello.

Have a wonderful June!

Itsy Bitsy Spiders (Twos)

By Ms Ana & Ms Jenna

The month of June starts the beginning of summer. Summer always brings to mind - water play fun! And this summer is no exception. We will bring all the experiences of the beach and ocean into our classroom. Be sure to take a peek at our mural of seahorses, crabs, starfish, octopus, and more!

We will experiment with sand, water and shells to include making both an ocean and a beach in a bottle, mermaid potion, and matching, sorting and hunting shells.

You can help your child by asking questions about their day and checking out books from the library about oceans and ocean animals.

If you have pictures of your family at Sea World or on a beach vacation, please share some with the class. Thanks for all you do!!

Lovable Ladybugs (Older Twos)
By Ms Christy

I wanted to let all my parents know that I am very pleased with how smooth of a transition it has been with my taking over the class. I know the children are anxious to begin our study of the beach, ocean and ocean animals.

We will begin our month creating an indoor beach with an island feel. We will construct palm trees and an ocean mural to help decorate our room. Each child will make different ocean animals (which we will learn about) to live in our ocean.

We will have a beach center with beach chairs, blowup swimmy rings, balls, sunglasses, towels, and pretend suntan lotion so that they can use their imaginations and pretend to be on the beach. Feel free to donate any of these items so that we can maximize the fun for everyone.

We will create sand castles, hula skirts, and even make ocean blue vanilla milkshakes.

Hooray for summer!! Aloha!

Creative Caterpillars (Threes)
By Ms Destiny

As summer approaches, our school year is coming to a close. It's been a wonderful year, full of excitement! From our cute little trick or treaters to our reindeers shaking their tails! I would like to thank you all. Without your daily involvement and wiliness to help with all our parties and events, they would not have been such a success. I'm so lucky to have such supportive parents! I wish all my VPK children the best of luck next year.

Now let's start our summer program!  We will begin our journey by making passports to document all the places we will visit. This month we will travel to England and partake in English Tea & Trifles, experiment with origami in Egypt, construct a Ganesha Sculpture in India and finish up with decorating our own Chinese pottery.

Let our trip around the world begin!
