Back to School
By A Child's Academy

This summer was another successful summer school program with a wonderful trip around the world, water days, bounce house days, petting zoos, and so much more. We had so much fun and hope you did too!

Back to school is around the corner! Which means back to normal schedules and back to the emphasis we place on the balance of education and play.

Several of our programs will be having open houses and we encourage our families to come in and get to know our teachers and staff so that this school year can be the best ever!

As always important dates are on the sidebar and class photos and learning activities are below.

Gator Game Day Care is Announced

We have had lots of parents asking us about if we will provide care for the Gator Home games this year and we have responded with a big yes!

We know that finding a babysitter can be a very daunting and stressful task and our program allows you to have guaranteed care locked down so that you can have fun with all of your friends and family for the game.

Roli Polies (Infants)
By Ms June, Ms Sabrin & Ms Trish

As the summer months are slipping away - we are getting closer to a new school year and some new faces.

The babies have all been enjoying the outside play and water time. It's amazing to see how our tiny babies are starting to enjoy their floor play. Before we know it they'll be crawling all over.

Our older babies are now starting to show a great interest in pulling up and walking.

We've had 2 new additions since July. We welcome Cale and Caitlin.

We'll all enjoy watching all the babies grow and develop new skills.

Busy Bees (Toddlers)

By Ms Gail, Ms Samantha & Ms Lydia

Howdy partners! We're at the end of a rootin' tootin' summer! These boots were made for walkin' and that's just what we've done! We've had a splash at the beach catching the rays, firing off a blasting Independence Day and now we're on the trail of a new adventure. Saddle up and get ready to learn about the Wild, Wild West!

In the next few weeks, we will be making cowboy hats, coloring "most wanted" posters, and playing "cowboys & Indians."

Round up your western gear and get ready to hang our hats because after this trail ride we're gonna giddy up into the new school year! Yee Haw!

Itsy Bitsy Spiders (Twos)

By Ms Ana & Ms Jenna

We're jumping off the circus train and the month of July as we make our way to August. We had tons of fun with water balloons, playing in a circus tent (parachute), and making and eating ice cream cone clowns.

This month we will be taking a journey deep into the jungle where we will be slithering through the amazing elephant leaves, vibrant vines and tremendous trees. We will be learning about the many animals and plant life that call the jungle their homes.

We will grow "jungle plants," create lion masks, experiment with green shaving cream, make yummy soil (pudding), and moving like jungle animals to Jack Hartmans' Animals in Action song.

You can help your child by reading books about the many jungle animals and their environments.

Feel free to join in on the fun anytime!! And Welcome to the Jungle!

Creative Caterpillars (Threes)
By Ms Destiny
Summer is sailing away and our new school year is moving in! This month we will finish our quest around the world. Last stops include Italy and Greece.

During our trip to Italy, we will play "tarantella" a game/dance, experiment with sink and float using the gondolas we construct, try our hand at painting upside down like Michelangelo, and then savor some homemade pasta! Bon appetite!

Our last stop is Greece - home of the mythological land of Greek Heroes. We will create "Worry Beads," experiment with Greek Pottery and learn about the several Greek Heroes.

The last week of Summer Camp we will hold our first annual ACA Olympics including Hammer & Discuss Throw Competitions, Shot Putt Competition, Relay Races, Basketball Toss, and Javelin Competitions. Awards will be given to all children for participation in these events. Fun will be had by all!!

At the conclusion of the summer events, we will be getting prepared for our new school year. You can help your child get ready by reviewing their colors and shapes (I Spy is a great way to practice), talking about how we sit on the circle carpet and line up correctly in line. As always, my door is always open and I welcome any comments or questions. I am looking forward to another great year!!

Brilliant Butterflies (Older Threes
By Liz
Our summer has been amazing so far! We've had a blast getting our passports stamped and getting on an airplane each week and going "around the world." We've been very excited about learning about each country, doing art projects and learning some of the languages. There's about a month left and we're thrilled to still "visit" France, Italy, Greece and have the Olympics.

Also, we had farm animals come and all the children got to pet them. They kept asking all day "when are they coming back?"

I hope you've enjoyed your summer and are staying cool.

Fours and Up!
By Ms Vickie

God's wonderful world is full of unique and interesting lands, peoples and cultures. We have traveled through 5 continents, beholding the treasures of each.

Our next stops are Italy and Greece. In Italy we attempt to construct towers that lean, but not fall down. We will create a pizza game (unfortunately, it's inedible). We will construct gondolas and try our hands at painting upside down (like Michelangelo). Then we'll sample some homemade Italian pasta (Yum! Yum!).

Then on to the mythological land of Greece, where we'll create Worry Beads, Greek Pottery and a Trojan horse. We'll create a board game of Greek Heroes and end our trip with a chariot race, second only to Ben Hur.

Our trip around the world will end with the ACA Olympics! The opening ceremonies will include a Parade of Countries with Olympic symbols, torches and flags. Then let the games begin! - Hammer Throw, Discus Throw, Basketball Toss, Javelin Throw, Shot Put and Relay Races. The closing ceremonies will reward all our great athletes for the outstanding Olympic spirit.

And yes, moms and dads, the 2011-2012 school year will begin soon. The excitement is in the air! The first day for ACA students will be August 30th. Please contact your child's teacher for supply lists and other information.
